Douglas Toombs joined Tier1 Research in May of 2010 as a Senior Analyst covering managed services and cloud computing. Douglas is an IT industry veteran with over 20 years of experience, the last 10 of which were directly in the hosting and managed services sectors as a Principal Engineer for Sevenspace and Sun Microsystems. During this time, he was responsible for mission-critical high-availability applications and infrastructure for clients, and developing ITIL-based tools and business processes to streamline operations and improve availability. Prior to working for Sevenspace and Sun, Douglas worked at hosting providers Servervault and PSINet as their principal Microsoft Platforms Architect.
In addition to a distinguished technical background, Douglas also brings a long history of publishing experience to Tier1, having been a Contributing Editor for Windows IT Pro magazine for 14 years. Douglas has won two awards from the American Society of Business Press Editors for his work, and has published several books on Microsoft technologies. Douglas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Information Systems, and an ITIL V3 certification. |
