Jim covers broadband and video networking hardware and related content, as well as network management software as a Senior Analyst for Tier1 Research. His research also includes an investigation into the role of CDNs and P2P overlay networks in the delivery of communications services. Jim heads Tier1's research into the use of grid computing and other technologies for the creation and delivery of digital content. Since 2000, Jim has consulted with investors and vendors on emerging technologies that are impacting the delivery of on-demand entertainment services, and he provides regular reports on related areas of M&A activity.
Jim is frequently cited in publications such as San Jose Mercury News, Multichannel News, and GRIDtoday. Recent industry speaking engagements include 451 events, the 2006 Canadian Venture Capital Association annual conference, GridWorld/Global Grid Forum 15 and Tier1's Hosting Transformation Summit.
Before joining the company, Jim analyzed PC manufacturers and covered developments in interactive television for CNET's News.com unit. He received recognition for his work at CNET from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Computer Press Association.
Jim has a BA in English from the University of California and an MA in American Studies from the University of Wyoming. |
